All over the world, there has been a great argument over who should keep artifacts. Some people say that whoever finds it, gets it. Some people say the museums should keep it for scientific purposes. I am of the latter. I believe that giving some piece of history to a museum for everyone to view (including scientists) provides far greater uses of the artifact. Artifacts can help uncover the earth's secrets, if it is in a museum, everyone can find history about the object where as when whoever found it, gets to keep it, nobody can view it, nobody can help unlock those secrets of the earth. Why would we want to keep the earth a mystery? Some reasons as to what the scientists are going to look at the artifacts are: Artifacts are most of the time extremely aged and still intact, finding out how this happened, can lead scientists to find methods of preservation. Take the Iceman for example AKA Otzi. The Iceman is an extremely well preserved mummy of a man who lived around 3,300 BCE. If scientists can find out how he was preserved, they can find ways of preserving us when we die.
Some reasons scientists would need it in a museum are: Artifacts can hold the key to uncover earth's secrets. Keeping them at your house just because "you found it", wouldn't let us find the secrets to the earth, and who wants to keep this unknown planet a mystery?
Another reason that artifacts should be kept in a museum is because museums have top-of-the-line security and the best enclosures for the artifacts. Say someone heard that you found an amazing, expensive, artifact and they want it. They can just walk in when you're not home and steal it. What use is that? Also, most artifacts are extremely old and fragile, some artifacts would even crumble to dust at the very first touch of our air and museums have the right equipment to stop that from happening.
Keeping artifacts in museums serve much greater purposes. They are also better for the artifacts and that is why I think artifacts should be put in museums.
